HEI Schools Ulaanbaatar River Garden kindergarten in Mongolia is looking for a full-time Pedagogical Lead for a minimum one year contract, starting in August 2024.  

HEI Schools Ulaanbaatar River Garden kindergarten is opening its doors for the first time in September 2024, offering Finland-inspired early education services to 2-5 year old children. The kindergarten is owned by a forward-thinking, international couple who have been in children’s toy business for the past 8 years. You will also work in close cooperation with the Center Director who will be responsible for operations, local law regulations and who will be the supervisor for local educators. Working language is English. 

As Pedagogical Lead, you will be responsible for leading the planning, development and implementation and evaluation of HEI Schools curriculum and pedagogy in Ulaanbaatar. This is a new role and you will be the key person in planning and setting up the daily schedule, routine and pedagogical activities and practices for the whole kindergarten. As the expert of holistic pedagogy, you will introduce, inspire and guide local educators to implement Finland-inspired play-based curriculum. You are evaluating the pedagogical implementation of the HEI Schools pedagogy and ensuring the kindergarten is meeting the education quality standards. Together with the local team, you build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, educators and staff to deliver best outcomes for families and children. Majority of your work is leading the pedagogy but some working time is allocated for Early education educator work in child groups.  

In this role, you will:

• lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of HEI Schools curriculum and pedagogy
• provide curriculum direction & guidance and support for local educators to effectively implement the pedagogical planning 
• build the knowledge, skills and professionalism of local educators 
• work in child groups as an Early education educator
• guide families’ understandings about play-based learning, and the significance of the early years in the education continuum for children

To succeed in the role, you bring: 

• Work experience as kindergarten educator with holistic early education approach
• Work experience from Finnish early education and/or HEI curriculum and concept
• International / multicultural work experience as an educator
• Bachelor of Education with early childhood education teacher qualification
• Good written and spoken English. Other language skills are a plus.
• Other skills such as 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal/ intrapersonal skills 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary learning theories relating to early childhood education and care, professional quality standards and approved learning frameworks
  • Ability to mentor and support educators from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of knowledge and experience
  • Embracing and showcasing a ‘ Finnish’’ mindset in education setting
  • Critical thinking skills, including the ability to analyze and challenge conventional practice and ideas

What HEI Schools Ulaanbaatar River Garden offers:

• Employer is HEI Schools Ulaanbaatar River Garden (Lejon LLC) and employment contract follows Mongolian labor law
• Fixed-term at least for one year, with possibility for extension
• Start in August 2024, negotiable
• Full-time position normally from 8 to 17 from Monday to Friday (9 hours / day including 1 hour lunch, 45 hours / week) 
• Based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (Address: Khan Uul district, River Garden 2, 17017 Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia)
• Monthly salary around 3000 - 3500 USD depending on qualifications and experience (salary is paid in MNT)
• Paid annual summer holiday 6 weeks, paid winter holiday around 2 weeks and paid public holidays (estimation 11 days / year)
• Housing benefit - furnished apartment for whole employment (either coming as single person or with family), estimation for total monthly apartment costs for employee is 160-270 USD. If person prefers to find their own apartment, employer covers a total monthly contribution of 500 USD. Estimation of a furnished one bedroom apartment is around 500-750 USD.

• Support in relocation such as flights, visa application, registering as resident in Ulaanbaatar, receiving local social security number, opening a local bank account
• Family benefit - if your family includes 2-5 -year old child, they can attend to HEI Schools Ulaanbaatar River Garden kindergarten for free
• Income tax in Mongolia is around 24% and estimation of monthly living costs of 540-870 USD (incl. food, transportation, restaurants, freetime activities) should give a comfortable living standard in Ulaanbaatar 

A background check for this role will be performed. Condition of the job is accepted transcript of criminal record and health check.
